Pigeon Forge has taken the age-old tradition of storytelling and built upon it by featuring some of the country’s finest tale spinners.
Professional storytellers from across the nation can be heard in concert and conducting seminars, where they share insights into the finer points of their craft.
The award-winning event is keeping the tradition alive with the National Youth Storytelling Showcase. Storytellers, ages 17 and younger, are selected from across America to appear in Pigeon Forge.
Tellers scheduled to appear in 2010 include Willy Claflin, Mary Hamilton and Mountain Man Bob Phillips.
Day passes for storytelling activities are $10 for ages 18 and older; free to ages 17 and younger. Weekend passes are $25. Specially themed late-night concerts are $5 per person. Ticketing information is available at 865-429-7350.
The 19th Annual Smoky Mountains Storytelling Festival is presented in partnership with the National Storytelling Network and the Smoky Mountains Storytelling Association.
